Uluwatu (or just "Ulu") is a peninsula on the southernmost tip of Bali, which is famous for good surfing, lots of rocks, nice beaches and a very laid back atmosphere. It is definitely worth the trip, and offers secluded beaches, good restaurants, and a fantastic view from the top of the cliffs along the entire south coast, where there are many hotels, resorts and cozy surfer spots.
NOURISH CAFE
We eat both burgers, pizzas (wood fired!) and their salads here, and their chicken dishes are also on the favorites list. Right next to the cafe is their Grocery Store, where you can get a lot of delicious things, both local and imported. NOTE: Only place in Bali where you can buy Heinz Ketchup!
MANA CAFÉ, ULUWATU SURF VILLAS
Uluwatu Surf Villas is a pretty expensive villa resort , but their cafe is open to everyone and has a fantastic view of the sea. Their tacos are excellent and completely fresh, and you can also get several good fish dishes.
PADANG PADANG BEACH
You get down to the beach via a few steps and through a limestone crevice next to the large bridge. On the other side of the road before the bridge there is a car park. One of the favorite beaches for surfing due to the large break far from the coast, along the beach there is a white sandy beach, fantastic views and a small sandy area for sunbathing.
ROLLING FORK
A sweet authentic Italian restaurant, incl. "Lady and the vagabond" atmosphere with checkered tablecloths. The owner and chef, Roberta Valentino, is an Italian lady in her early 20s. She greets the guests personally, and does not hesitate to go and chat with the tables.
DRIFTERS
Pure surfer and vintage vibes! Explore the shop with art, clothing and surfer gear, and immerse yourself in their books in the small cafe. When you're done, head out the back to the peaceful restaurant area where you'll find excellent coffee and a variety of delicious healthy dishes. Tip: Stop by on a Friday night and you might catch a live band or a movie under the stars for their weekly movie night.
LA BARACCA ULUWATU
Same pizza restaurant as our favorite in Canggu. You can choose between wood fire pizzas, homemade pastas, or vegan dishes that won't blow the budget.
DREAMLAND BEACH
Not quite a secret beach anymore, but still somewhat hidden due to its location. A favorite among both local and international visitors, Dreamland also remains a favorite for surfing.
SUGAR ROCK
They have a lovely garden with lots of colorful cushions. A Balinese-inspired, fresh, quality menu with plenty of healthy breakfasts and an innovative, full a la carte menu. Nice atmosphere and super attentive staff.
ULU CLIFFHOUSE
With direct access to the beach and a 25-metre infinity pool, world-class food and drinks. You will be served your food and drink from their outdoor restaurant, which is located on a terrace on the cliff side overlooking the slope and the water.
BONUS:
IMPOSSIBLE BEACH
As the name suggests, it is not easily accessible, but it is worth the walk. Start by looking behind the Radisson hotel and ask around, then you will find the entrance and can start the descent. Remember proper shoes, flip flops won't work here for once...
