Embodying Self-compassion

IFS therapy is not about fixing yourself or chasing perfection, but about learning to be present and self-compassionate – through both the ups and downs.

Certified Somatic IFS therapist

Trine Hedegaard

It’s not about living up to external ideals and standards set by others. Rather, it’s about creating a deep connection with YOURSELF and finding ways to be present—just as you are, where all parts of you have space, without needing to hide anything away. By learning to listen to your inner guidance and connect with your unique qualities, you open a space for genuine growth and healing.

You see: True presence begins when you allow yourself to be exactly as you are!

With practical tools and my guiding support, you will learn how to connect inward in a way that feels authentic to you—without the constant self-criticism or doubt:

“Am I good enough?”

IFS is for you if you want to go deeper into yourself and understand that support in dealing with what holds you back - is the most self-compassionate path!

Designed to support you if you:

Feel stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck

Doubt yourself, your gifts, or your next steps

Are ready to make peace with: Perfectionism, self-criticism, and self-doubt

Struggle to integrate and come to terms with "difficult" parts of yourself

Need support to regulate your nervous system

Feel disconnected from your body’s wisdom or your intuition

Are caught in old sabotaging patterns like self-criticism, numbing out, overexertion, emotional eating, etc.

Are ready to step out of your comfort zone and are curious about your blind spots

Somatic IFS therapy sessions are held online via Zoom and available worldwide.

What would happen if we learned to embrace all parts of ourselves?

Even the ones we’ve pushed away in the past? Try to imagine that for a moment.

Have you ever experienced inner conflicts, where different parts of you want different things? Or felt pulled in opposite directions? As if parts of you have their own needs, fighting to be heard? Or maybe you’ve experienced how emotions, thoughts, or bodily reactions suddenly take over your day, without fully understanding why?

If yes, then IFS (Internal Family Systems) might offer you valuable tools to better understand yourself. IFS is an evidence-based psycho-emotional model that helps navigate our inner landscape. The model is built on the core premise that we all contain a diversity of parts – and that every part fundamentally has a positive intention.

I was introduced to IFS back in 2015 as part of my training in yoga, mindfulness, and self-compassion. It’s one of the most self-compassionate models I’ve encountered – where self-compassion is not just a concept, but a practice where we learn to embrace all parts of ourselves.

And I’m far from the only one who is excited about IFS. It’s inspiring to see how women like Liz Gilbert, Alanis Morissette, Glennon Doyle, and Kristen Bell – even Brené Brown and Oprah – have also embraced IFS. Their honest stories of understanding and embracing all parts of themselves have given many the courage and belief that we can all meet ourselves with more empathy and love.

A kinder and more supportive relationship with myself

During my stress leave, I needed a space where the pace could slow down - a space where I could find my way back to myself, gently and safely.

My sessions with Trine gave me valuable tools I can use in everyday life. I became aware of how even small pauses can make a real difference - and that they can be enough when time or energy is limited.

I’ve developed a kinder and more supportive relationship with myself, which I continue to build on.

A deeper understanding of my patterns

I began this process wanting support to deepen and sustain my yoga practice - but it gave me so much more than that.

I came to see that the parts of myself I meet on the yoga mat are the same parts I meet in my work and in my relationships. This has given me a deeper understanding of my patterns - and of myself.

Trine creates a safe and trusting space where I could relax and allow the process to unfold at my own pace.

Meeting my vulnerability

This process gave me the courage to meet myself - and my vulnerability - in a new and empowering way.

Acknowledging and embracing my humanity has been a central part of this journey. Trine has a special ability to listen and ask questions that open things up without pushing. I felt seen and acknowledged - even in the parts of myself I’ve previously struggled to accept.

It is from this place that my future choices now emerge.

Having myself with me

During a period of stress leave, I found myself in a place where everything felt uncertain and fragile. In this process, I was met and guided by Trine in a safe and present space.

When my usual compass - logic and words - was no longer enough, the somatic work helped me find a more embodied and sustainable direction. I learned what it means to truly have myself with me - even in vulnerability.

What once felt overwhelming now feels manageable. I have a deep sense of trust that whatever arises can be met with stability and strength.

Gentle and precise guidance

Experiencing Trine’s guidance is like watching an archaeologist at work. With gentle and precise attention, she helps uncover - layer by layer - what lies beneath, so you begin to understand the emotions and patterns you are struggling with.

Her inviting language and the way she holds space create a sense of safety where the emotional layers can naturally unfold. She notices shifts in the nervous system, often before you become aware of them yourself, and gently guides you from there.

Closer to myself

Trine is a deeply engaged and highly skilled IFS therapist who clearly knows what she is doing. The way she works allows me to feel completely safe being myself and letting all parts of me be present - something that has been profoundly healing.

After 11 sessions, I can clearly feel that I am closer to myself and more at ease within. I notice that my Self-energy has more and more space, and it brings a deep sense of inner calm.

I am deeply grateful for this process.

A place to be met — exactly as you are

My name is
Trine Hedegaard

I work with people who want to understand themselves more deeply and reconnect with what truly matters — so they can live with greater clarity and inner coherence.

Since 2015, Internal Family Systems has been the foundation of my therapeutic work, closely integrated with a somatic and trauma-informed approach, including Somatic Experiencing.

My work is primarily for women living with the effects of complex or developmental trauma, attachment patterns, self-criticism, relational challenges, and long-term stress.

Together, we explore the patterns and survival strategies that once protected you but may now be limiting you. What has been hidden is gently given space to be seen and met — at a pace your nervous system can hold.

As a certified Somatic IFS therapist (Internal Family Systems Institute, Level 3), I offer a safe and professional space where body, emotions, and awareness are all welcome — and where meaningful, lasting change can take root.

All in service of helping you live your life more fully.
