Being with Grief
An Internal Family Systems Retreat on Grief, Loss, and Healing
Sooner or later, grief touches every life.
As therapists, we accompany clients through death, illness, endings, trauma, and the many forms of loss that shape a human life. Yet many of us discover that grief is far easier to recognize than it is to remain present with.
Loss often awakens protective parts that move quickly to keep us functioning—through activity, caretaking, numbness, control, anger, or distance. These responses are not obstacles to healing. They are intelligent adaptations that have helped us survive.
This retreat is an invitation to gently explore our relationship with grief through the compassionate lens of Internal Family Systems.
Held in the peaceful surroundings of Bali, this six-day experiential retreat offers the opportunity to slow down, turn inward, and deepen your capacity to remain present with grief—with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
Surrounded by Bali's lush landscapes, warm ocean air, and a community of fellow practitioners, you'll have the opportunity to reconnect with yourself, be supported by others, and discover what becomes possible when grief no longer has to be carried alone.
Meet Einat Bronstein
IFS Institute Senior Lead Trainer, Certified IFS Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and International Educator
As a Senior Lead Trainer with the IFS Institute, Einat Bronstein teaches Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 trainings internationally. She is also Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Israeli IFS Institute, which has trained hundreds of therapists in Internal Family Systems since 2008.
With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Einat is known for her warmth, wisdom, and deeply compassionate teaching. In recent years, grief has become an increasingly important focus of her work. Drawing on the compassionate framework of Internal Family Systems, she invites therapists to develop a different relationship with loss—one grounded not in fixing or avoiding grief, but in learning how to remain present with it.
She creates learning environments where therapists can explore even the most difficult human experiences with courage, curiosity, and care.
Making Space for Grief
Throughout the retreat, Einat gently weaves together experiential Internal Family Systems practice with timeless understandings of grief, mourning, and human connection.
Across six days, you'll engage in guided meditations, experiential IFS processes, reflective dialogue, partner exercises, and quiet moments of integration designed to support both personal healing and professional growth.
Grief is rarely only about death. Together, we'll explore the many ways loss lives within us—from bereavement and illness to the quieter losses of identity, belonging, safety, relationships, and the life we imagined.
Rather than asking grief to disappear, we'll learn how to make space for it. We'll explore the protective parts that have helped us survive loss, approaching them with curiosity and compassion while gradually developing the inner capacity to remain present with grief without becoming overwhelmed.
Throughout the week, the group itself becomes part of the healing environment. In the presence of a compassionate community of fellow practitioners, grief no longer has to be carried in isolation. Together, we'll create a space where sorrow can be witnessed, shared, and honoured with kindness.
While the retreat offers valuable clinical learning, it is first and foremost experiential. Rather than focusing only on how to accompany grief in your clients, you'll be invited to deepen your relationship with your own internal system and the parts that carry loss, love, longing, and resilience.
You'll return home with a deeper understanding of how Internal Family Systems can support the grieving process, greater confidence accompanying grief and loss in your clinical work, and renewed trust in the healing power of presence, community, and compassionate companionship.
